West Virginia Skies

Get a glimpse of gorgeous skies across the Mountain State and listen to an old-time fiddle tune at www.thegazz.com/westvirginiaskies. Photographs by thegazz.com editor Douglas Imbrogno are set to “Yew Piney Mountain,” performed by Roane County musician Dave Bing on a Harold Hayslett fiddle. The 90-year-old Hayslett of South Charleston has made nearly 150 instruments, many from West Virginia trees. The slide presentation is one in a series titled “My West Virginia.” To learn more, visit www.thegazz.com/gblogs/mywestvirginia. A fleet of bronze-yellow clouds above Braxton County evokes the majestic skies from a Hudson River School painting.
