Happy Holidays!

As we bring another year to a close, I find myself reflecting on the beauty and blessings that surround us here in West Virginia. From snow-dusted mountains to quiet winter forests, this season offers a time to pause, appreciate nature’s stillness, and give thanks for all that sustains us.

Our state’s natural wonders continue to inspire hope and connection. Whether you’re hiking a favorite trail, birdwatching near a frozen lake, or simply admiring the landscape from your window, the outdoors reminds us of renewal and resilience—qualities that carry us through every season.

In this spirit, I’m reminded of the words from Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” These words speak to the heart of what we experience in West Virginia’s wild places—peace, joy, and a deep sense of hope that nature so generously provides.

As we celebrate the holidays and look forward to a new year, may we continue to cherish and protect our natural resources, and may the hope found in our mountains and rivers fill our hearts and communities.

From all of us at the Division of Natural Resources, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a bright, hopeful New Year.
